"Why is my baby not sleeping?"

This mum asked me to help her the day after our 30-minute call, I was moved by her text. ​

“Honestly, it’s a miracle—I don’t know how else to put it. Because after I spoke to you on the phone, she slept through the whole night, which hadn’t happened since November. She’s calmer. I’m calmer.

Louise, you have magical powers!”​

So I made a mini- blog series to document what we uncovered during these transforming 30 min, so now you can actually see your baby find sleep too but also begin to release some guilt and doubt in the process.

The voice memo she sent me that day

"Hello Louise, I hope you're doing well. Listen, I don’t know if it’s just from having spoken to you, but the nights have been going better.

Honestly, it’s a miracle—I don’t know how else to put it. And you’re going to laugh, but it’s even more of a miracle because after I spoke to you on the phone, she slept through the whole night, which hadn’t happened since November.

She slept from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. We have no idea why. We only changed one thing: we put a nightlight above her bed and turned the radiator down. And she slept all night, so we were shocked.

After that, we still had a few rough nights.

But lately, these last few nights—and I don’t want to jinx it—she’s only been waking up once or twice. Which is nothing compared to what we had been going through until now. And above all, we feel like she calms down much faster, she’s much more at peace. So I don’t know if it’s just talking to you that maybe reassured me too.

But anyway, I had to tell you because it was just so funny that I called you and right after, she had a full night’s sleep with dad. It’s not possible, Louise—you have magical powers!

Anyway, we’re going to take a look at the sleep schedule and still follow your advice. Because we want to be sure we’re not missing anything or haven’t missed anything.
